A day with Sheikha Latifah Al Maktoum

Sheikha Latifah Al Maktoum is an equestrian athlete from the UAE.

Her equestrian career took off when she first won the UAE Showjumping Championship, in Abu Dhabi, in 2003.
This let her to get into the international league and participate in the 2006 Asian Games of Qatar as member of the UAE team. Together, they won the bronze medal.

After that result, the next big challange was to qualify for the Olympic Games.

She succeed in achieving her goal straight after, in 2008, when she competed in the Summer Olympics of Beijing.
Even tough she didn’t achieved the podium, her work definitely made a statement for becoming a role-model for all Arab women while representing the sport of her Nation to the Olympic Games.

 

 

Only two year later, she got the sport’s greatest honours for the UAE team first qualification ever in the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, USA.

2010 was a successful year for Latifah, not just for WEG.

She also participated in the Asian Games again whe she won a silver medal in both individual and team competitions.

All her achievements are the result of a great passion for this sport but also hard training and strong focus on competitions
